About Us

 

Lakelse Dragons is a community dragon boating team based in Terrace, BC.

The team began in 2006 with the formation of the Lakelse Dragon Boat Society.   We are a volunteer based organization with members working together to support the team's activities. ​  We paddle the picturesque waters of Lakelse Lake, situated just outside Terrace, BC.

Our paddling season runs from May until mid-September. The Lakelse Dragons participate in a variety of  community events and offer paddling opportunities to local groups such as schools, businesses and clubs .  

Our Mission

The Lakelse Dragon Boat Society's Mission is to promote: 

  • ​Com​munity spirit, involvement and pride in team Dragon Boat racing

  • A healthy sport for individuals of all ages

  • Healthy competition between local and provincial communities

  • Teamwork and co-operation within the community

  • Awareness of the health benefits of athletic activities, such as Dragon Boat Racing, for individuals of all ages throughout the region.

Paddling Season
Our paddling season runs from May until mid-September.
Paddling sessions occur twice a week on Monday and Wednesday at 6:45pm. 
We begin each season by offering an introductory course to new paddlers (see the Events page for more details) 

If you are looking for a Unique Group Experience for your club, family , friends, school group or co-workers.   Our LDBS volunteers are available to community groups or businesses for paddling sessions.   We will give your group a lesson and a fun paddling experience. It is a great team building exercise.   Paddles and Life Jackets are provided.
